Me wo Aketa Mama no First Kiss - AKB Team4

So today we will take a look at Team 4's coupling for AKB's 38th Single, Me wo Akete Mama no First Kiss. And just like the other Team coupling PV's (which I haven't reviewed yet) -except Team8's video- this is also included in AKB's new Album "Koko ga Rhodes da, Koko de tobe!".

To be honest I don't know many members of Team 4 since almost all the members belong to the newer generations which I hadn't had that much of an interest in.  The fact that I'm still a bit angry about the management for dispatching the original Team 4 and then opening the Minegishi Team 4, although I'm really happy for Miichan.

However despite my lack of knowledge of Team 4's members, I will give my best to make a good review of Me wo Aketa Mama no First Kiss.



So first of all Minegishi Team 4 has the image of being all cute und happy since there are so many young -and pushed- members in it. But Me Aketa Mama no First Kiss isn't a cute song at all. It has more of a latin inspired tune with lots of guitar and trumpet parts. This in combination with the rather mature and serious singing of the members makes it a really good dance number.
Since I really like music, no matter what genre as long the song is good, so of course  I really LOVE it when one of my favourite groups tries something new and it turns out to be as awesome as this piece.

So let's move on to the music video which is really awesome.

And furthermore it looks like it's school themed (like almost every AKB PV...)

Really what did the director think of making a dance scene with those two?

It's like comparing apples with oranges.

Yuria: "Yea, I'm totally better than Rena."

Nagisa: "I'm the best, no matter what."

Yurina: "What the hell is going on in the PV's storyline."

Mizuki: "I have no idea."

Looks like Komiharu and Yukarun have a really close relationship.

I don't know why, but almost everytime I see Nana in this PV she shows a wierd/funny expression

Saho: "What the hell are you doing Miki?"

And the final scene with the "lower" members kneeling before the "higher".

*** Attention Personal Opinion ***

First off, like I said in the intro, I really love it when groups try something new and it turns out good. And trust me Me wo Aketa Mama no First Kiss is good! No, more than good. It's awesome.

The MV also is really awesome since it shows a different side of Team4's members, which I hope we will see more often from now on. Thes school setting really fits the lyrics and the meaning of the song since you normally have your first kiss when you're a student. Furthermore I really like how they worked with the light/sun rays. It really creates this latin feeling, kind of.
I personally love the costumes for this song. Although it's just a school uniform, I really like how each member is dressed individually. For example having different shoes of shirts.

Also the dance is really impressive with it's quick steps which really fit Yuria's image. However I really don't know what the producer thought when they made this dance scene with Rena and Yuria. I mean come on that was like the worst idea to put those two together in a dance scene. Yuria and Rena are poles apart when it comes to dancing.

What really surprised me lately is that AKB's MV are getting kind of risky with all this girlxgirl action going on there. Not that I have anything against it but if you look at the last few MV's you will get to see my point. This was a surprise to me since Japan is really strict -or not kindly- when it comes to this, especially by Idol groups like AKB.

All in all the MV and also the song are awesome. And it shows a totally new side of many Team 4 members. And it is really hilarious watching Miki in this MV since her facial expressions are really funny -those of the other members too, of course.
